The project was consisting of the design and construction of 1.8KM flood protection wall in Northern Afghanistan, Badakhshan province in Faizabad city. The project was in four locations of Kokcha basin River 1).700 meter long stone masonry wall in Jawzoon Valley,2): 300 meter long gabion wall in telecommunication location of Faizabad city ,3): 300 meter long stone masonry wall in Agriculture Garden area in Faizabad city location and 4): 500 meter long retaining wall in Abisity area, which is in the main road of Faizabad and Kabul. Main items of the work which was include are below:
1). Preliminary work: it was consist of mobilization, demobilization, and site security, 2). Engineer design and Survey works: it was consist of Engineer survey (Topographic and soil test) and Engineering design (detail design drawings and calculations). 3). Earth work: it was consist of cofferdam construction and dewatering, dewatering of construction sites, earth work excavation and back filling 4). Civil Works: it was consist of plain cement concrete M20, stone masonry works, plum concrete , Gabion boxes installation, expansion joints by mastic filler(at 25 meter distance), weep holes PVC pipe with filter clot at 3 meter distance, RCC concrete and stone boulders. Total volume of the work performed is:
Earth work in excavation 28,923.978m3; Back filling works 15,615.94 m3; PCC 433.34 m3; Stone masonry works 11,847.75 m3; Plum concrete (incl, form work) 1,680.81 m3; Gabion boxes (complete, filled with stones) 2,484 m3; Expansion joints 52 Pcs; Weep holes by 10cm Ø PVC pipe with filter cloth (at 3m distance) 746.60m; Steel for fixing gabions 2695kg; Boulder Rock and steel bar fixing 4,843.26 m3; Geo textile 3,228.84 m2.
